October Featured Artist - Ken Vallario

Ken Vallario is an artist from New Paltz, NY.  His work has shown in New York, Philadelphia and throughout the Northeast.  His work is an eclectic attempt to take the fractured elements of 20th century modernism and recombine them to form a constructive dynamic style suitable for our 21st century ambitions. Ours is an age of deep complexity.  Vallario responds to this complexity by attempting to re-imagine the centrality of the human being in a cosmos that gets more and more illusive with every advance in knowledge.  The struggle for identity and meaning in a world of parallel universes and post-modern deconstruction signals for Ken Vallario that the act of painting has become the highest form of philosophy.  As the anxiety of influence increases every day so does the need to transcend this with an alchemical breakthrough.  Commitment to humanity and an optimism about the future drives these works, as does a desire for honest one of a kind works, that stand alone, as fully developed expressive works.  Some of his more recent works like the one above, The Heart of Markets, are accompanied by essays that delve more deeply into his philosophy of 21st century art-making.  So we hope to see you at the opening this Friday October 1st.  You can see more of his works at www.kenvallario.com
